Stevens Publishing Launceston, 2002 facimilie of the Art in Australia Sydney 1921 publication, Ltd Edn. of 200, 12mo, Illust, 128pp. Green Faux leather cover. Many b/w photographs, three tipped in watercolour plates by the author. This was the first book written in Australia to focus on flyfishing for trout. It is a happy mixture of fishing stories, tips, poetry, fly patterns, anecdotes, fine descriptive writing and some early history of the sport in Australia.     Includes chapters on saltwater fishing and Australian native freshwater fish but is mainly about trout fishing in New South Wales. The original is one of the most sought after angling  books  in Australia. -Mint

Book has papered boards with green imitation leather spine, gilt title on spine..  The first book to trace the history of the sport from its beginnings in the 15th century. “Major Hills has succeeded in identifying almost all the artificial flies mentioned by the early writers and his account of the evolution of rods, lines, reelsand tackle is very complete”. The author concludes this important work ‘And then I believe that there must be others whom the history of the sport attracts, who are fascinated by the devices of other days, and who are never weary of going back to the old writers, of reading them again, of getting at their real meaning and of seeing where they have anticipated us’. A&C Black London, 1964  1^st Edn, 4to, Illust, 250pp, D/J in slipcase, Nine colour plates and four black and white plates. Complementary to Fly Dressers Guide by the author with sections on fly tying problems and their answers, fluorescent materials, tube flies and flies patterns from around the world. Not just another general instructional book on fly tying but has been produced in an effort to keep all interested fly tyers up to date with modern patterns and procedures. New Zealand Marine Department  Wellington, 1952,  Fisheries Bulletin No. 10A,   8vo, Illust, 70pp,  Soft Cover.    A shortened and simplified account of the studies described in detail in Fisheries Bulletin No 10.  It sets out, for the benefit of the angler, the results of a scientific experiment aimed at "Where do the trout come from and where do they go to"?  It describes how anglers can improve  their take and the quality of the fish with better stream management. Very slight water damage.   -Very Good.

An iconography of sport during four hundred years from the beginning of the fifteenth to the end of the eighteenth centuries. Detailed and fascinating plates include Emperor Maximilian shooting and fishing. Blue cloth boards with gold-gilt decoration and lettering. A good clean copy - Fine.
